Play Time

I think the next time my husband makes a suggestion about going to the park I am going to say, "No thanks". Today we got food and went to the state park. We figured we would eat and let the boys play. They have several slides and stuff to climb on. They have a big rocket slide and swings. All this stuff, right up Logan's alley. As soon as he got done eating he shot off toward the playground. Running, climbing, all that stuff no matter how high. I was finishing up and Zach was waiting for me to get done eating. He is not quite as enthused about the playground as Logan. He is scared of heights. He did get on the slides (even the covered ones) although it was not by choice. He was starting to relax and get better with things when Daddy said, "Let's go to the swings." Logan had been over there swinging, which is one of his most favorite things, and Daddy was pushing him. Oh my God, Zach went ballistic! He started crying and backing off from the swings. He kept saying he was scared and was going to die. I mean he is petrified to the point he is shaking. Bless his heart, Logan was over there swinging to high heaven. Zach got over to the swings and I was pushing him. He is doing ok. Then Daddy comes over and gives him a big push. Zach was not all the way back in the swing so he ended up out of the swing. So my husband decides we will just go home. Hello, Logan is having a ball! So Zach won't swing, who gives a crap. I know he is trying to help Zach get over some of his fears. But there has to be a better way. I know my husband has days where his picture of what the boys should be like does not match reality. Believe me, there are days when I wonder why God didn't give me "typical" children. However, I dig deep on those days otherwise I would go crazy. Yeh, some days are easy and some I just want to (and have) go in the bathroom and baul my eyes out. The boys are different in many ways and we just have to figure out what works for each one. But hey, I did have some success tonight. I got toenails and fingernails clipped while Logan was asleep!!!!! You understand I have to take victories when and wherever I can. God bless to all.
