What Do We Do ?

For those of you who don't have to worry about your child having any kind of therapy, get on your knees and thank God!!!! All summer and even now Logan has been receiving speech therapy on Thursdays. When school started we had to switch it from morning to afternoon, same day. Two Fridays ago, there was a note in Logan's backpack when he got home. The note asked if there was anything he did on Thursdays that might make him extra tired. He had screamed and cried all day that day. So I sent a note to the teacher telling her he had therapy on Thursdays. Now, he is supposed to be getting speech at school. I was having him do the extra because he is still non-verbal. Well, this past Friday I get another note in the backpack. It says Logan screamed and cried all day. It says that Thursdays might be too much for him. It also says (I kid you not !!!) that Logan's screaming and crying is having a negative impact on the rest of the class on Fridays. She thought we would want to be made aware of this. How would you feel? Let me tell you, my feelings were hurt more than anything else. I don't want his behavior to disrupt the other kids but I want him to get what he is supposed to. As a parent, autism can deliver some pretty big blows to your self-confidence and self-esteem. Then to have someone say something like that about your child's behavior only makes you feel even more helpless. I know she is thinking of the other students needs and that is fine. But what about Logan's ? Fridays are the only days we have gotten notes about. I would not think therapy would be the problem because he has been doing that for several months. I really don't know what we are going to do. I had my crying jag about this Friday night after boys were in bed. I wish some things were so much easier. I wish we didn't have to worry about therapy, IEP's, and so much other crap !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess we are going to have to wait and see how this plays out. Wish me luck and bucket loads of prayers.
