Surprise, not!!!

Well, I got the occupational therapy evaluation back on Logan. No surprise, they recommend sixty minutes per week for six months. I guess then we would go from there. I am glad they recommend the therapy. However, it is kind of depressing when you see in black and white that your child falls below average in all the categories. There is one section where according to his ability he has the skills of a kid three and half years old. He is five years old!!! Another section it was less than three years old. It blows my mind because he is so smart. We are just waiting on the approval and I can't wait for it. I am so ready for him to start this. They will work on self-help skills, holding pencils and things like that, cutting with scissors, and who knows what else. I want him to be able to do as much for himself as possible. Not because I mind doing it because I truly don't. But he has to be able to deal with the outside world, at least to some degree. As I have said before, he may live with us for the rest of his life I don't know. If so, that is ok. I just want him to be able to do for himself some. I think that will help him gain more confidence just as it would with any other child. Now, I am sure he will still be in the special needs class next year. Until he becomes verbal that is something that we will fight to keep. Again, we feel he would get through the cracks in a regular class. Just wonder why things can't be easier sometimes. Guess that is not what God had in mind for me! God bless to all.
